Monitoring the progress of software development is an important part of the project management of any software development lifecycle. Automatically generated baselines provide code violation reference points to make that task much easier.
TBevolve is an optional module that supplements the TBvision component of the LDRA tool suite. It enables project teams to monitor the impact of code changes on coding standard violations in their project.

As source code changes, TBevolve compares the analysis of a baseline copy of a system with that of new versions, reporting on changes in coding rule violations.
A baseline is a reference point in software development – a “line in the sand”. TBevolve helps by establishing baselines that are specifically associated with adherence to software coding standards.
Effective baselines give stakeholders insight into how well the project is progressing – that is, its performance compared to plan. This insight provides a catalyst for appropriate adjustments to be made – either by making changes to the plan, or by adjusting resources.
Baselining can also provide valuable data into EVM (Earned Value Management), a project management methodology. EVM considers schedule, costs, and scope to measure project performance.
Risk management is a practice that leverages processes, methods, and tools to provide a disciplined management environment for proactive decision making. TBevolve assists with this practice by providing a means of applying a measurable, repeatable analysis process to areas of code change in the context of coding standard adherence.
TBmanager is a component of the LDRA tool suite. It is a role-based requirements management tool that supports team members in their work on allocated activities and links the resulting code and verification artefacts back to higher level objectives. It provides project baselining utilities as an integral part of that functionality, reporting on the effects of changed requirements and/or changed code.
Summary reports generated by TBevolve can be attached to TBmanager as artefacts to integrate the facilities offered by both.
