Role of DDPMAS & DSSD in Building Indigenous Dependable Aerospace & Defence Products


This is a joint webinar hosted by LDRA & SIATI (Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries).

Airworthiness and Quality by Design is always a top priority of Indian Defense. Airworthiness Policies are defined in the revised DDPMAS (Design, Development, and Production of Military Airsystems and Airborne Stores). It encompasses Airworthiness Framework, Roles & Responsibilities of Stakeholders (Indian Defence Forces, DDP agencies, Technical Airworthiness Authorities), and DDP of Airsystems & Airborne Stores for all three acquisition scenarios (ab-initio, licensed production, brought-out). Airworthiness (Technical and Operational) Regulations are defined in IMTAR-21, which is aligned with airworthiness policies.

DSSD (DRDO Standard for Software Development) is a software development standard applicable for the DRDOs/ADA and their suppliers (DRDO’s outsourced partners/contractors) involved in developing software as embedded systems, firmware, simulation systems, and more.

This webinar will briefly explore airworthiness and safety aspects defined in Draft DDPMAS – Policy V0.0 and discuss the software considerations described in Draft IMTAR-21 V0.0 and DSSD Standard. With hindsight, we propose a harmonized approach with qualified tools and solutions to manage multiple expectations (improving quality, airworthiness, and compliance) imposed by the before said policy and standard.
