Best Practices for Developing Safe and Secure Data-centric Embedded Software Solutions

With the proliferation of IoT technology and the increasing reliance on software to deliver flexible and innovative systems, nearly every industry is evolving to focus on ‘connected’ and ‘software-defined’ solutions.

Connected and software-defined solutions present significant challenges to developers, in particular to ensure robust and reliable software connectivity as well as overall software safety and cybersecurity. To help meet these challenges, there are several standards that play important roles. The Data Distribution Service (DDS™) standard, managed by the Object Management Group (OMG®), is the software connectivity standard that enables secure real-time information exchange, modular application development and rapid integration in distributed systems.

Safe and Secure Coding Standards such as CWE, CERT, and MISRA provide sets of rules to avoid sources of coding errors and security vulnerabilities. Industry standards such as DO-178C, DO-326B/356A, and the Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment® (FACE®) for avionic systems, or ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434 for automotive systems, outline development and verification activities critical for ensuring safety, cybersecurity, and portability of software.

This webinar will present how RTI and LDRA are partnering to provide a solution built upon best practices for overcoming the challenges of developing safe and secure software that provides robust and reliable connectivity, which is the cornerstone of connected and software-defined systems.
